Safety & Training - Leading the Way in Railway Maintenance

All staff are certified and competent to undertake the works using the correct plant and equipment

Training

All staff undergoes extensive training before being allowed to undertake works on the customer's infrastructure.

Necessary training and qualifications include:

  • PTS (Sentinel - Personal track safety)
  • Lookout
  • COSS (Controller Of Site Safety)
  • Passport to Safety (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board)
  • Bespoke PES induction
  • First Aid - Appointed person
  • Abrasive wheels
  • Hydraulic excavator
  • Manual handling
  • Plant and machinery including hand tools

 All staff are encouraged to engage in a Continued Professional Development programme with professional bodies and university.

Health & Safety

Where possible all staff work within a 'safeguarded area' (Green Zone) under a COSS. All staff are certified and competent to undertake the works using the correct plant and equipment.

All plant and equipment is in good working condition and will be checked before any works. All infrastructure is returned in a safe condition fit for the passage of rolling stock.

Staff has regular assessments and appraisals to gauge abilities and attitudes.

All works include up-to-date risk assessments and method statements and briefed to all staff before works commence.
